Chris's outrageous Lyft deductible

Donation protected

This campaign is to bail my car out of the collision center and have transportation in my family's life again.

On February 10, 2018, I was driving for Lyft and had a passenger in the car.  An uninsured motorist slammed into my car twice on the interstate, then proceeded to leave the scene of the accident before the state police arrived. While Lyft advertises, and even touts, their complete coverage for uninsured motorist, the reality is their insurance company offers one option for covering Lyft driver accidents: a $2500 deductible. While you may read about Lyft's driver coverage including uninsured motorists, be aware, their insurance company will not only avoid handing out information about the coverage, but they give you no avenue to speak to anyone about it. Louisiana, they claim, is not "on the list." Reality check, they won't say what states are. So, the net result is paying a required $2500, period. Being self employed, my life doesn't allow for a $2500 reserve, and it's made worse by not having any  work transportation whatsoever. Lyft's insurance doesn't cover rental cars either. So, I come to you, hat in my hand, to ask for help in reaching a goal to get my car back home. Fighting the system is proving to be impossible and I've realized the most immediate solution is to figure out a way to meet this deductible and get this whole awful episode in my rearview mirror. Bottom line: never trust what Lyft is telling you about their insurance. You're pretty much screwed if someone else is at fault.

I deeply appreciate anything and everything.
