Help Me Bring Jackson Home

5 years ago I lost custody of my son due to addiction. Shortly after, I got clean. I have 4 years clean now. At that time, his paternal grandmother left the state with him without telling me. For months I was in a depressive state, unknowing of my child’s whereabouts. I contacted a lawyer and got visitation set, but it is barely anything. I couldn’t afford a lengthy back and forth. After that I paid for another lawyer in Washington who never answered my calls or emails. I was on the edge of hopelessness, but I could NOT give up on bringing this beautiful baby home. He is suffering from a lack of life skills because he isn’t being taught to be independent and do daily tasks on his own like brushing teeth or getting dressed. He’s late for school at least 8 times a month. At the end of the day, he is my responsibility. He belongs with his family and he deserves to grow up with his sister, Julianna. On October 3, I had a consultation with a lawyer in Washington (where Jackson currently resides) and she told me I have a really good case. The retainer is $5,000. If it goes to trial, it could be upwards of $10,000-$15,000. I’m not expecting anything close to that amount, but I am a single mom going to school full time and waiting tables on weekends so every little bit helps!
