Y'all, my musical idol Jacob Collier is debuting a 4-day retreat in New York this August and I REALLY WANT TO GO.

He's going to have daily masterclass lectures, breakout sessions about harmony/ rhythm/ performance/ recording, nightly jam sessions and concerts. I wouldn't be the musician I am today without him- I'm not even sure I'd be a musician today without him. His perspectives on music and singing as exploration and experimentation have changed my life profoundly, and serve as the bedrock for my expressive (versus perfectionistic) relationship to creativity. Thanks to his interviews and masterclass recordings on youtube, I've been able to integrate some of his wisdom and playfulness over the years so that I too can experience and process life and joy and sorrow through melody and harmony and lyric.

The cost of the program is substantial, and with flights and taxes and transportation, I'd deplete much of my savings. I want to go be inspired, moved, and changed, and be able to bring back new life-giving ideas and memories and feelings that will forever color my art going forward. I want to grow as a musician and artist and elevate my ability to create, share, learn, teach, inspire and connect with others.
