Help me make the greatest record of my life

Hey guys! David here aka Strange Majik. I am an artist and producer who has been working in music for years in New York City, and before the pandemic was playing 135 live shows a year. I am creating a new LP called “NY City Animal” and the songs are insane! I think you guys are gonna love it! It's a full length 10 song record inspired by the characters in the Big Apple (maybe even YOU) and I need your help. The first single releases in January.

I have over 100 published songs and have never asked my friends for money to make a record. Things are different now. Since 2020 life has changed for all of us and I am asking for your help. Of all the albums I have made (seven Strange Majik and two The Dead Exs) I recorded, mixed, mastered, and funded myself. It’s been a ton of work but a labor of love. I have built a solid catalog of music and have built a fan base that I am eternally grateful. Excitement is growing now and I have to devote my full time to making the best record I can.

It takes a budget to create a rock record. This is not music you make on your laptop at the coffee shop. I have studio rent, audio gear, high end microphones, vintage instruments and have made major investments to stay true to my music. The musicians (my band) who are my backbone also deserve to get paid. Your contribution is critical and will go to them too!

You may have seen me with the guys in Tribeca at our Belle Reve Tuesdays (8 years now!) or perhaps when we opened for the Wallflowers in Brooklyn. Maybe you caught me recently at The Beachlife Ranch Fest in Los Angeles singing some Waylon Jennings for 8 thousand people! I can’t wait to get on the road this year and see you all in person.

I’ve been lucky enough to grab some attention from press. The Deli Magazine said, “David Pattillo is something of a blues rock cult hero in New York City.” WFUV Radio called my latest album, “A sensational collection of soul inspired rock ‘n’ roll songs.” Chilean magazine Revista Rocnrol said “worthy of a tarantino soundtrack!” The UK’s Powerplay Magazine says “They’re here to pinch your fags and run off with your date, all whilst you’re dancing to their fantastic music.”

I’ve written and produced songs for Motown/Universal, worked with super producers Linda Perry and The Berman Brothers, co-written with Nashville music row coterie, co-produced the Live At The Artists Den series on PBS (for which I was nominated for an Emmy), hosted a UK radio show on Amazing Radio, and paid my dues working with a long list of artists from Public Enemy to The Beastie Boys in the NYC studio world. I’ve been been featured in Shindig Magazine UK, Record Collector Magazine, Creem Magazine, The Deli Magazine, and many blogs and podcasts around the US and abroad. My songs have been licensed by international sports brands, TV shows and films.

The UK’s Shindig Mag says “The British influence is all over Strange Majik’s sound. You can hear The Stones, Ziggy era Bowie and more than a little Hendrix whilst still managing to sound as American as apple pie.” T-Rex/Bowie super producer Tony Visconti recently posted on social media “David Pattillo and his band are fantastic. I call it Progressive Blues!” In a review of their album 20/20 The Deli Magazine calls it “truly contemporary” saying it’s “a psych-y, funky odyssey that reads like an alternate history Summer of Love.”
