The Backstory:
On June 28th, 2018 Max's life changed forever.
When camping with a friend in Covelo in Eastern Mendocino County, the road Max was driving his truck on gave way and he fell 300ft down a cliff.
He was ejected from the vehicle and it took rescue crews over 6 hours to extract him from the accident site before being airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding. When he arrived, he was placed in a medically induced coma, due to a traumatic brain injury, for just over 2 days.
Max also suffered severe bodily injuries including two broken vertebrae in his neck, broken and fractured ribs, a broken shoulder blade, a collapsed lung, as well as facial lacerations and numerous deep tissue wounds. After two weeks at the ICU in Redding, Max was transferred to Mercy General in Sacramento for acute rehab where he began occupational, physical and speech therapy to help him develop, recover, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. Since starting rehab, Max has impressed his doctors and therapists and made tremendous strides to regain his mobility and speech.
Max is now home with his parents in Petaluma. On Monday, July 30th he began rehab at The Centre for Neuro Skills in Emeryville, CA.
Though he is on the road to recovery the financial reality of this accident is daunting!
The Costs:
Max and his family are still wrapping their brains around what the full cost of this accident will be, however I know that with your help we can give Max the needed financial support that will ease his mind and allow him to fully focus on his health and recovery.
Max's medical insurance covered a large amount of his medical bills incurred at the hospital, however he will still owe thousands of dollars.
Currently his insurance has agreed to only cover 1/2 the cost for the first 10 days at The Centre for Neuro Skills. Everything following will need to be paid out of pocket. To put this in perspective, doctors are estimating that Max will need to be in rehab for a minimum of 6 months, 4 days a week.
CNS Per Day: $2,027
CNS Per Week (4 days a week): $ 8,108
CNS Per Month: $32,432
Not only will he be out of work while in recovery, but he has also lost his truck, cell phone and personal belongings.
With your help, we can give Max and his family some peace of mind by helping with these costs. All donations raised will go directly to Max to help him pay for these bills and living expenses.
