On August 25, 2025, our world was turned upside down. Our son, Matthew Bryson, was in a terrible motorcycle accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury.

He is currently fighting for his life in the Neuro ICU at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. These past days have been filled with fear, tears, and countless prayers — but also hope. Despite the severity of his injuries, doctors believe that with the right care, Matthew has a very good chance at a full recovery.

Immediately after the accident, Matthew underwent emergency brain surgery to relieve pressure from a subdural hematoma — bleeding on the brain. In order to save his life, surgeons had to remove a portion of his skull to allow the swelling in his brain to decrease. That piece of his skull has been carefully preserved and frozen so it can be reattached in a later surgery, once the swelling has gone down. This is just the beginning of a long, difficult road to recovery.

Matthew is only 32 years old. He is a kind, hardworking man, known for his willingness to help others and for his deep involvement with family and friends. He was recently engaged and looking forward to starting a family of his own. He is the kind of person who always steps up when someone is in need — and now, he is the one who needs help.

To make things even more challenging, Matthew did not have health insurance at the time of the accident. The medical bills — for ICU care, surgeries, neurological rehab, and more — are already staggering, and we know this is only the beginning.
