<div>On Saturday, February 8, 2025, 16-year-old <strong>Mateo, a Sierra High School student, was seriously injured when he was thrown from the vehicle he was riding in.</strong> Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted from Mammoth Hospital to Reno for advanced medical care. Mateo sustained head and chest injuries, multiple broken ribs, and a collapsed lung, along with other serious injuries.

<div>While Mateo does have Medi-Cal, <strong>the medical expenses, recovery needs, and associated costs will far exceed what Medi-Cal covers and what his family can afford.</strong> They need our help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in supporting Mateo and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

<div>Mateo has been a part of the Mammoth Unified community since kindergarten. He is well known and deeply loved for his kind and gentle nature. As an 11th grader, he has touched the lives of many, and now, it’s our turn to rally around him.

<div>El sábado 8 de febrero de 2025, <strong>Mateo, un estudiante de 16 años de Sierra High School, sufrió heridas graves al ser expulsado del vehículo en el que viajaba.</strong> Debido a la gravedad de sus lesiones, fue trasladado por avión desde el Hospital de Mammoth hasta Reno para recibir atención médica especializada. Mateo sufrió traumatismos en la cabeza y el pecho, múltiples fracturas de costillas y un colapso pulmonar, además de otras lesiones de consideración.
