<div>As many of you may or may not know, this year we got the devastating news that both Mason and Jack were diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the mutations of a protein called dystrophin that helps keep muscle cells intact. There is no family history of this disease so it has been a shock to us and our family. Unfortunately, this is currently a non-curable fatal disease. The average life expectancy for men with DMD is 27 years and wheelchair-bound in the early teens. We have relied heavily on our faith during this time and trust God has a special plan for our boys which gives us hope for their future. With that being said, we had the privilege of attending the national DMD conference shortly after diagnosis and we learned a lot. The good news is that there are a lot of positive treatments coming available including a gene therapy that was just approved by the FDA with a lot of potential treatments coming in the future. We are reaching out to you because as hopeful as we are, this disease unfortunately comes with a variety of very expensive treatments, countless doctor appointments, traveling, therapies, research, and future expenses. This unfortunate situation also limits the time and ability for both of us to juggle and maintain a full-time job. We have received a lot of questions from friends and family on how they can help.
