Help Marzena Beat the Fire

Donation protected
On August 8, 2018, after arriving home from work, Marzena found herself trapped in an apartment fire.  The fire started in the apartment below hers, blocking the stairs and the doorways and she could not escape.  She selflessly saved her dog, Rosie, by lifting her out the window and called 911 to report that she was trapped.

It was such an inferno by the time the fire fighters arrived, they had to put out part of the fire before they could even begin to search for her.  Ten minutes after arrival, they were able to find and rescue her as she lay helpless and unconscious in her floor. Click here for the news story on The fire and her rescue.

She suffered significant burns inside her lungs, carbon monoxide poisoning, cyanide poisoning and fought a multitude of blood oxygen and inhalation issues along with pneumonia.  She was in a coma for 8 days and after 3 weeks is weaning off the ventilator.  She has made significant strides in the past week and remains in the critical care unit.

Marzena is facing enormous medical bills.  She has lost all of her belongings and will be rebuilding her life once she is recovered.  We can help her through this.  There is no way to estimate the costs that will be incurred but we know that every heartfelt donation will help her.

Marzena came to the US from Poland as a teen (this is the root of her nickname at the office which is 'Poe').  Her thick accent isn't the first thing you notice about her, though.  Her radiating joy, her beautiful smile and her caring heart grabs your attention before she even opens her mouth to speak.

The miracle of her survival is such a blessing to her family - especially her three children - and her friends, all who love her dearly.  She is a fighter and is one of the strongest women we know.  She has touched so many lives and has helped so many people - it's our turn to show her as much love as she shows others.

Please help us help her as she steps into her future from this unexpected and difficult circumstance.

She is an inspiration to all of us and even to folks she doesn't know.

Thank you for your help.
