Donation protected
I Father Isaac John Katumbi in collaboration with Marymount School Management, Board and Mzuzu Diocese are fundraising for Marymount Girls Catholic Secondary School.

Marymount is located in Mzuzu, the Northern part of Malawi in Southern part of Africa. The School was built by the Missionary Sisters of Immaculate Conception (MIC) Nuns in 1963, 2 years after the establishment of Mzuzu Diocese in 1961. Situated approximately, 355km from Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi in the midst of a residential settlement, Marymount has for the past 58years been the fulcrum of successful girl child education. The school has produced and ushered quality human capital into the main cities public universities, public, private and non-for-profit job industry in and outside Malawi.

The school performance in the past years has registered

. 99-100% average pass rate for secondary school leaving certificate of exanimation

· 75% transition rate from secondary school to top public universities

· On boarded year on year a number of disadvantaged students on scholarship basis

· Maintain an average fairy priced school fee structure

· Attracts students from across the 28 districts of Malawi and all walks of life

· Attracts on average demand of 900 students wishing to enrol into the school for a yearly intake of only 160 spaces/students, leaving 800 deserving students unattended to year on year due to limited classroom and boarding space

The school intends to add on additional classroom and bed space (200), refurbish the dining hall, kitchen, bathrooms, science labs, dormitory and other facilities at an estimated value of 250 Million Malawi Kwacha (MWK 250million is equivalent to Euro 270 000 or USD 300 000).

On average 84% of girls in Malawi will not finish their education (NSO 2020), 32% drop out of secondary school due to distance travelled to school, fees, cultural & traditional barriers and domestic burden demands (World Bank, 2018) and there is lack of affordable boarding school facilities for girls in Malawi. Keeping girls in boarding school facilities can attempt to curb some of these key challenges faced by the girl child.

Education is a fulcrum of every country’s socio-economic development. This initiative will also attempt to increase access and improve quality of Education (Sustainable Development Goals 4), will contribute towards social infrastructure development and compliment government efforts (AU & Malawi Agenda 2063 & The Malawi National Education Sector Investment Plan NESIP 2020-2030)

Join this initiative and contribute towards this noble cause to increase access, quality, affordable education for the Malawian Girl-Child in Malawi.
