Help Mary and her family fight against ALS
Early this month my mom Mary received some of the worst news you can possibly imagine, she has been diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. ALS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is a progressive disease, which means it gets worse over time. It affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord that control your muscles. As your muscles get weaker, it gets harder for you to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. Today medication and therapy can slow ALS and reduce discomfort, but there's no cure. ALS is always fatal and patients typically live for 3 to 5 years after diagnosis.
My family and I are starting this campaign to help My mom and my little sister Madison (15) get through these trying times.
Madison is under my moms care most of the time and this has been a very trying time for such a young girl to go through this journey on her own.
My mom (Mary) is a mother of 4 and has been going through clinical trials trying to figure out what was going on for the past year and a half. It first started off with a limp and now has increased into no motor functions in the left hand side of her leg and arm. She has not planned for what was going to happen next, but taking everything day by day.
I am creating this go fund me for her because she will soon not be able to work, drive, eat, breathe, or do normal everyday activities by herself and all she has is Madison (15) who is in school everyday.
Her goal is to remain as strong as possible for as long as possible so that the work She’s doing can also help others in the future be more aware of this disease
My mom is a fighter and She is determined to keep on fighting. As Lou Gehrig said, and I concur, "I have an awful lot to live for.”
We would be honored to receive any gift amount, large or small, which you can contribute to Help For ALS.
