Help Marvio Rebuild in SXM

Donation protected
Marvio Cooks and his family live on the island of St. Maarten and their home was destroyed by Hurricane Irma. They fled to Divi Little Bay Beach Resort and immediately began to help others locate loved ones, water and shelter.

Both Marvio and his wife, Ashlye as well as Marvio’s father have worked tirelessly to provide critical information and comfort to folks affected by the storm, keeping the lines of communication open. They have been true beacons of light during a very dark and disturbing time.

Even though they, themselves, have lost everything, they have remained focused on helping others, and their efforts are deeply appreciated.

In fact, Marvio has spent the last several days looking for friends and loved ones from other families (and even complete strangers) putting himself at great physical risk to help find those potentially lost in the storm, despite not knowing whether his own son, who lives with his mother on another part of the island, was safe and accounted for.

In the face of his own personal tragedy, he remained focused on helping others and has never wavered in his determination and commitment to help those who need it most. His son was indeed found safe, thank God, but because Marvio was out helping others when the word came in thanks to another SXM angel named Arlette, many of us knew before he did that his son and his son's mother had survived the storm.

Most recently, he and a few friends ventured out to secure life giving water and deliver it to families with infants who had no water for several days, and while that mission was ultimately successful, he has since worn out the only shoes he has (he lost his other shoes, along with everything else he had, in the storm), but still, he soldiers on.

Since curfews are in effect, and vehicular travel limited, he has done much of this on foot, returning to the hotel to provide updates via his Facebook page, which I would encourage you to follow if you are interested in learning more about this incredible young man and what he is doing to selflessly help others on the island of Sint Maarten:

Marvio and his family have given selflessly during a time of great personal loss, choosing to remain focused on those they can help immediately with little regard for their own needs. I have been deeply moved by their efforts, praying for them and all affected by Irma, and I wanted to do something to help them get back on their feet and rebuild their lives once they have a moment to focus on themselves.

Won’t you please take a moment to donate whatever you can to help this amazing, compassionate family?

Any funds donated will be given directly to Marvio and his family to help provide for immediate needs like water, shelter, food, shoes, medicine and diapers, with the rest going to help them rebuild their lives in St. Maarten.

Knowing Marvio, he will most likely use any remaining funds to help those who have been even more severely impacted than he and his family have been. He’s just that selfless of a human and has indeed been a blessing for everyone in his path.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about this amazing family and for keeping them in your prayers. If you can donate a few dollars to help them, that would be wonderful and if not, if you could please keep them in your prayers and kindly share this campaign, that would be great!

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration and may God continue to bless and keep each of you and comfort all of those affected by Hurricane Irma.
