Help Marissa W4AQT keep her radios

Donation protected
Hello! This campaign is to raise funds for Marissa W4AQT to payoff what is owed on the radios that she uses to make amateur radio contacts. Amateur radio has played a major role in Marissa's life over the past three years and has been instrumental in her STEM education and continues to allow her to experiment with antennas and various other aspects of radio communications.

Marissa has been blessed over the past few years with making many friends through amateur radio and has used radio to speak with other amateurs across the world. Marissa is active on the radio almost every day and has given numerous demonstrations and presentations at hamfests and at various club meetings. In 2018, Marissa won her schools science fair by studying the affect of radio waves using various antennas. Marissa was fortunate enough to have been chosen to give a presentation at the 2019 Hamvention and won the 2019 Alabama Young Ham of the Year. Marissa is also an ARRL Certified Instructor and, as such, has helped to teach license classes, often to those old enough to be her grandparents. Amateur radio has helped Marissa learn life skills such as public speaking and how to just be a good person and to help others with something they don't understand.

Marissa and I (her father) have always tried to 'pay it forward' and over the past couple of years we have donated HF radios, HTs and antennas to other amateurs that needed equipment to get on the air and make amateur radio contacts. Marissa has even donated HTs and antennas that she has won at hamfests. I have tried to instill the values of helping others in need to the best of your abilities.

Marissa and I have never asked for anything from the amateur radio community, until now. Marissa must now pay off what is owed on her radio set-up within the next couple of weeks and, to put it bluntly, I simply can't afford to pay off what is owed so Marissa and I are humbly turning to the community to ask for some help so that she can keep her radios and remain active on HF and on amateur radio satellites.

Marissa owes $600 for her radio set-up and we set the campaign for $650 to cover the fees which must be paid for using the GoFundMe platform. Should she be fortunate enough to raise the funds she needs, anything over the campaign amount will be donated to AMSAT-NA to help support keeping amateur radio in space.

Marissa and I both know that there are many, very deserving opportunities to which people can make donations but there just aren't that many campaigns to help keep an active ham radio youth on the air. That is why we are humbly asking that you consider helping keeping Marissa active and on the airwaves.

Marissa will continue to be a very strong advocate for amateur radio and will continue to learn throughout her years in junior high school and high school and will continue to give presentations and to be a mentor to others, regardless of who or where they are located.

As Marissa's father, I never expected to find myself reaching out to the community in this manner but I am now humbly doing so. It has been such a blessing to me to see how amateur radio has changed Marissa's life and how it continues to do so by teaching her STEM concepts that she would never learn in school. We humbly ask that you consider helping out Marissa W4AQT remain active on the HF airways with a small donation. It WILL be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
