<div>In April 2025, Marie — an over-the-road truck driver — was suddenly struck by debilitating migraines, blurred vision, nausea, and loss of balance. Stranded at a Love’s truck stop in Virginia, she was unable to drive safely and had no choice but to camp out for several days in her truck. Despite her condition, she regularly checked in with employees inside, worried that something serious was happening and wanting someone to know she was there.

<div>Over the next two months, Marie sought help from two urgent care clinics, several same-day appointments with her primary care provider, her optometrist, the ER, and a transitional care clinic. Finally, in July, a CT scan followed by an MRI confirmed our worst fears: Marie had a tumor — 6 x 6 x 6 centimeters — in the right frontal lobe of her brain.

<div>Her neurosurgeon acted quickly. Less than a week after the MRI, Marie underwent a six-hour brain surgery on Tuesday, July 15th. The tumor was successfully removed while friends and family anxiously waited and prayed.

<div>Marie’s journey is far from over. We are still awaiting biopsy results, but anticipate a treatment plan that may include chemotherapy and radiation. Recovery has been difficult — she continues to battle severe insomnia and the aftereffects of the tumor and surgery. Her healing process will take time, and we are preparing for many appointments, treatments, and challenges ahead.

<div>As a result of her condition, Marie is currently unable to work, and her savings have been significantly depleted. Like many facing a serious illness, the financial burden is heavy — from medical bills and transportation costs to everyday living expenses during recovery.

<div>Marie has a loving and supportive circle around her, but due to limited work protections and mounting costs, we are asking for help.
