My name is Maribel Garcia, and I am a mother of nine wonderful children. Our lives changed suddenly when my husband, who is the heart of our family, was detained by ICE right in front of our home. He has always been a loving father, taking care of our children, cooking, cleaning, and making sure they have everything they need. He also works in construction, but because of the risk from ICE, he hasn’t been able to go out to work for some time.

 Now, with my husband gone, I am struggling to keep our family together. I am four months behind on our mortgage, and every day is a challenge to provide for my children. I recently suffered a stroke, and my husband was my main support, caring for me and our kids. I have been reaching out to immigration lawyers, but the costs are overwhelming, and I simply don’t have the funds to pay for legal help or even keep up with our basic needs.
