My name is Kellie, I am Malachi Easling’s aunt and Maria Iverson’s sister. Malachi passed away tragically and unexpectedly on April 8th, 2025.

I have created this GoFundMe to help cover the costs associated with putting Malachi to rest, to relieve Maria of the financial impact this loss will have on her, and to allow her to focus on grieving the loss of her son who was her entire world.

If you had the honor of knowing Malachi, you knew that he had the most infectious smile and you couldn’t help but laugh when hearing his. He was a loving gentle giant who would give you the best bear hugs you ever had. He loved exploring the outdoors, fishing, being near any body of water, big trucks, building and working on things, goofing around and joking with everyone around him, playing video games, and chatting with his friends. And he loved his mother like you wouldn’t believe.

This loss is truly soul-crushing for everyone who knew him and Maria.

It was decided between Maria and Malachi’s dad, David, that a formal service is not what Malachi would have wanted, so a celebration of life will be planned for later this year. That information will be shared when it is decided.

To be completely and totally transparent because I think it’s important for people to know where their monetary support is going, Maria and David have agreed to split the cost of the arrangements made for Malachi. They decided together to have him cremated. The associated cost with that is $1,300 plus the cost of death certificates and their own separate urns.

This GoFundMe account is set up to solely support Maria during this tragedy. She will be financially impacted by the loss of work wages while waiting for benefits to be dispersed. Malachi was a 21-year-old adult who received disability benefits and shared the cost of living expenses with Maria. She will be impacted by suddenly being responsible for the full cost of those living expenses, as well as many other things I am sure.

If you know Maria, you know that life has been unbelievably unfair to her. No parent should have to put their child to rest not once, but twice. Maria now lives alone and does not have a spouse. As you can imagine, this is a gut-wrenching reality. If monetary support is not something you are able to provide but would still like to help her in any way, a heartfelt message and emotional support or a listening ear can go a long way. Small portioned frozen meals that can easily be reheated are also really helpful.
