<div>My name is Margarita, I have Lupus and unfortunately my kidneys started failing when I was about 20 years old. 
</div>
<div>At 24, my kidneys failed completely and I had to start Hemodialysis treatments, 3x a week for 4 hours each.
</div>
<div>(Hemodialysis is a procedure where a dialysis machine and a special filter called an artificial kidney, or a dialyzer, are used to clean your blood.) 
</div>
<div>These treatments have been my essencial to keeping me alive while I wait for a kidney donation. 
</div>
<div>As dialysis treatments take a toll on the body, within the past 6 years, 7 surgeries (including open heart surgery... that was a bummer) and years trying to get on the transplant waiting list. I was finally approved!
</div>
<div>One of those surgeries was to create an access in my right arm arteries to be able to be connected to the dialysis machine for treatments. But soooo disappointed to say that after 5 years my access failed and a had to get another catheter in my neck which makes life way more difficult.
</div>
<div>I will be getting surgery on July 5th to hopefully repair my access and remove the catheter but the chances are not good. Still, hoping for the best.
</div>

<div>I am now 30 years old, and have done my hardest to take care of myself, body and mind, and worked as much as my body would let me to be independent for the last 5 years. However with this catheter, my day to day life is so much more complicated and I'm not able to get much work done and provide for myself as I could before. 
</div>

<div>NOW... The San Diego transplant list is very long..... like loooooong. Average wait is 7-10 years!!!
</div>
<div>But that also means that if I find a donor myself, I can move forward with the transplant as soon as all tests are completed. 
</div>

<div>So I am reaching out to anyone wanting to do some good and help. Either donating for my medical and living expenses or donating a kidney. Anything and everything helps and is welcome. 
</div>
