My name is Marcus, and I’m a 37-year-old Black entrepreneur from Chicago trying to rebuild the trucking business I sacrificed everything to create for my family. In 2018, after working over 10 years in a warehouse job, I invested my entire savings into starting my own trucking business. My goal was simple — create a better future for my wife and kids and build something we could truly call our own.

Like many small businesses, we faced major challenges during the COVID-19 outbreak. Even through the uncertainty, I stayed committed. I spent countless hours researching the trucking industry, learning through hands-on experience, and doing everything possible to keep the business moving forward. Then hardship hit back-to-back. My semi-truck suffered a major breakdown that required costly repairs, putting me deep into debt just trying to stay in business. A few months later, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss, and funeral expenses added even more financial pressure. Shortly after that, the truck broke down again. At that point, financially, I could not recover. I never gave up on my dream, but the setbacks drained everything I had worked for.

Today, I’m asking for help to restart my trucking business and get back on the road. These funds will help with equipment, transportation expenses, insurance, and getting operational again so I can continue building a stable future for my family. This isn’t just about a truck. It’s about rebuilding a life, restoring opportunity, and proving that setbacks don’t have to be the end of someone’s story. Any donation, no matter the amount, truly helps. And if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me and my family. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting a small minority-owned business trying to rise again.
