Hi, my name is Mandi, and I’m asking for help to fund FTN top surgery and recovery. Unfortunately, United Healthcare, through my employer’s specific plan, excludes gender-affirming care benefits and coverage. So, for my top surgery, I will be financing it with my own savings and through Care Credit with my surgeon. As a chef, my job is very physically demanding, and I’m not expecting to be able to fully return to work post-op for at least two months.

I am not in the most ideal situation to access this care financially, but it is something I must finally do for my mental and physical health as someone who is nonbinary. Anything would help with both the double mastectomy surgery costs and the recovery process while I am unable to work. To those that know me closely, you know this has always been something I have needed to do.

I’m also facing GI health complications and a potential Crohn’s disease diagnosis. I was hospitalized recently for a bowel obstruction for the second time in my 20’s. Those medical bills and after recently paying off TMS therapy are adding up.

This is a life-changing surgery for me. Growing up, I never thought this would be a possibility for me. It would mean the world to me, any contribution or kind words, while I’m navigating this next part of my life to focus on my mental and physical health.
