<div>As many close friends know, my best friends mom was diagnosed with breast cancer back in May. Even though breast cancer runs through her family and she has had 3 sisters with it (one who passed away), this still came as a surprise and it has been a rough time for their family emotionally and now financially. Fortunately, the cancer was only in the masses that she has already had removed. The cancer she had was “triple negative” which is the most aggressive form of cancer and can develop and regrow fairly quickly.

<div>The oncologist told them it was imperative to begin treatment immediately so that they could try to prevent it from coming back. The only course of action is chemotherapy.

<div>Unfortunately their mom is not eligible for health insurance. This means everything they have been paying is out of pocket. She must continue to have multiple oncology appointments that are about $200+ each visit, a chemo port installed which is about $2k, and about 4-6 chemo sessions that usually run about $10k per session. Luckily, she has been approved for an assistance program that took her chemo sessions from $10,000 to about $600. They understand that California offers free healthcare but they do not want to move her to a different state where she will not have her children’s physical support through the chemo, where she would be away from her granddaughter, and where it can take months to get the help she needs.

<div>We wanted to create a GoFundMe to ease the financial side and help them out with the expenses. It’s only Yadira and her brother and the amount of money they have to pay to keep their mom cancer free, is insane. Anybody who knows Yadira, knows her dream was to become an attorney. She finally took that leap and completed her first year of law school but after the diagnosis, she had to take a leave of absence to help out with costs. Yadira, her brother, and their mom are the very first people to always offer their helping hand to anyone who needs it. I hope good karma finally comes around and helps her and her family get through this. All proceeds will go for her medical bills and any miscellaneous expenses that might come up or anything to help her feel more comfortable during the chemotherapy. Anything is very much appreciated ❤️
