Help Maliya in her fight against brain cancer

Donation protected

On Nov. 9, 2019 Maliya was taken to the
ER for a headache that just wouldn’t
give. That same day they found a tumor on her brain and she was immediately flown
to Oakland children’s hospital.
Nov. 10, 2019 Maliya underwent a 14 1/2 hour surgery to remove the tumor. She was in the hospital for a week and released to
go home on Nov. 17th. There was a bunch
to celebrate when she came home
including the news that she was going to be a big sister!!
Friends, family, and the community came
together to show their support through
several fundraisers and even a huge
spaghetti feed put on by Maliya’s school.
The out pouring of love and support was
overwhelming. Maliya had to do 6 1/2
weeks of daily radiation. On Feb. 19, 2020 Maliya celebrated her “no more radiation” party with the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer center, family, friends and even
surprise guests from The Nevada highway patrol. The days began to  pass, Maliya’s
MRIs were coming back good, and life was moving forward! On May 1, 2020 Maliya
officially became a big sister . We all
welcomed lil’ Maycee Raelyn.  Maliya
continued to stay strong and amaze us
with her energy,  feistiness, and spunk day
in and out. On June 12, 2020 Maliya was
selected as a recipient of the Reno Rodeo
Foundation Scholarship program. She was presented with several gifts one of which
was a family trip to Disneyland. Mid
October, 2020 Maliya and her parents got the news that her latest MRI had shown
some of the tumor had grown back.  Maliya and her parents would need to head back
down to the Bay Area for another surgery.
Almost a year later to the day Maliya had
her second surgery on Nov. 3, 2020.
Surgery lasted 12 1/2 hours. Maliya and
her parents returned home for her to
recover and prepare to head back down to the Bay Area for a two week stay to do
everyday radiation treatments . This time
only mom and Maliya went. The Doctors
and Oncologist were pleased with the
results from the second surgery and latest radiation treatments.  She has had a couple MRIs over the last few months and they
don’t show a whole lot in regards to new
growth. However Maliya’s little body is no
longer able to do any more radiation
treatments and surgery is unlikely a
possibility. So with the chance of even a
smidgen of a growth coming back
treatments are narrowing down.
Which leads us here where Maliya is at in
her journey.  May 2, 2021 Maliya and her
parents headed down to Seattle for the
week to go over her next treatment option, housing situation, final paper work, and the complete ins and outs of the next
treatment plan. Maliya will be doing the
Brain Child Clinical Trial there. They will
return after this week to come home and
get their lives and home here in Dayton Nv. in order before Monica and Maliya head
back down there for two months to get
started on the treatments. Malcolm will be staying behind here at home to continue
working to support his family and taking
care of their three other daughters.

Please keep Maliya and her family in your
prayers as they walk through this next
journey in Maliya’s fight against Anaplastic
Ependymoma.

This GoFundMe is set up to help with
 additional financial costs with medical
expenses, travel expenses, and additional
living costs for Maliya and Monica while
they are in Seattle. Everything helps. Thankyou.
