Help Maleah Recover from her Disease

Donation protected
Hi,

My name is Delaney and I'm raising health funds for my sister Maleah. She has had a horrible past three years of suffering from health problems. First, she developed very rare spasming of her tongue base and then spasming of her vocal cords, which cut off her air many times and eventually led to her getting a trach (a hole cut into her throat) to allow her to breathe through.

When she got out of the hospital from the surgery, she then developed pneumonia and she saw many pulmonologists who didn’t know how to get rid of it. A few months later she went into into respiratory failure from a mucus plug in her left lung and had to be revived with a bag in the hospital and was then put on a ventilator in the ICU and then she finally got a diagnosis of a superbug (pseudomonas) in her lungs. It was the closest she has ever been to dying. The respiratory therapist told her she was lucky she was at the hospital when it happened so he could revive her quickly, or she probably wouldn't have made it.

She had to then get a PICC line (a catheter that goes to the heart) inserted to get very powerful IV antibiotics that kill superbugs. The first IV antibiotic was so strong it started to make her go deaf. She had to quickly get ear surgery to get ear tubes installed to be able to put ear steroids into her ears daily, to try and save herself from going deaf. Thankfully after 6 six months of ear steroids, she was able to recover a lot of her hearing, but she will always have high frequency hearing loss. At least she is not deaf now.

The next IV antibiotic took 6 weeks to work on killing the superbug, but got rid of most of her lung infection. Soon afterwards she started to develop seizures, convulsions, memory loss, lack of coordination, sudden high heart rates in the 180s, and coronary artery spasms and pulmonary artery spasms. She then got more tests done and they came back showing she has many autoimmune disorders and autonomic nervous system dysfunction.

Her doctor wanted to get to the root cause of all these things so he did a mold test since he suspected it may be the cause of her autoimmune and neurological symptoms and he finally found the "smoking gun" as he called it. He found that she has 65x the toxic upper limit of black mold (stachybotrys) in her body (the most toxic and deadly mold, which is known to have been used as a biological weapon). Her doctor said she has the worst mold poisoning he had ever seen in his career, which explains a lot of her really bad health symptoms.

Her doctor said most people with her amount of mold poisoning would be dead by now. She is hanging in there, suffering daily, but still alive. Her doctor said the universe must want her alive, because with these numbers you usually don't survive. She is very grateful to be alive, but she would like to get better and for the suffering to end. She can't keep enduring the suffering of these poisonous toxins. She needs to get better quickly. The suffering is taking a toll on her physically and mentally everyday that goes by.

Her doctor also found that she has very high gadolinium levels from all the MRI contrast she had. It's a neurotoxin, so it needs to come out too.

She has to take 10 different medications a day to help control her seizures, convulsions, heart rate, vasospasms, mast cells activation, bronchospasms, keep her lung infection at bay, antifungals, antibiotic, etc. They help, but they don't totally eliminate her symptoms, but she has to keep on them to keep her symptoms from getting worse. Some of them are covered by insurance, and some of them are not covered at all or are only partially covered.

Her lung infection is a lot better, but won't fully go away until her mold is gone. So she has to stay on an inhaled antibiotic that cost $2,000 after insurance per month. Her immune system is too compromised right now and she is in quarantine and will be for a long time until she gets better. She only goes to the doctor. She was on a medication that insurance didn't cover that cost $8,000 per month, she couldn't afford it for more than two months, so she had to stop taking it.

She also has to take a lot of vitamins and minerals every day because of all the toxins she is very deficient in many vitamins and minerals. She has to get IV infusions 3x a week to pull out and detox the mold. She has to get liver IV infusions too because her liver function is declining from all the mold. Her liver enzymes are getting higher from the mold toxins so she needs to get IV liver phosphatidylcholine to keep her liver function from failing. She does all these infusions 3x a week.

She can barely walk around the house because it’s too hard for her to move around and breathe most of the time. Her husband is her caretaker. He is not able to work as much as he used to since he has to take care of her 24/7. He works from home, but isn’t making as much money as he used to and their savings have been depleted from hospital bills, surgery bills, and all these other medical health care costs that have been going on for the past three years.

She is suffering a lot every day to some degree. The mold has really poisoned her body. I want to help her not suffer as much and help raise money so she can continue her treatments and all her medications so that she can finally get better from all of this and get her life back and come home to visit us.

Things that her insurance won’t cover are:

New Trach and trach supplies, that must be replaced weekly & monthly to keep her Trach and hole in her neck properly sanitized
PICC Line supplies that must be replaced every week for sanitation purposes to avoid infections
Other medical supplies for breathing, like nebulizers for breathing treatments, trach suctioners, trach humidifiers
Some of her medications: inhaled medications, oral medications and IV medications
Supplements for nutritional support, these toxins have made her very deficient in most vitamins and minerals
Monthly hearing tests are not covered by her insurance
Every three months: trach stoma granulation tissue local anesthetic surgical removal - only partly covered by her insurance
IV chelation for gadolinium
IV infusions for better liver function (phosphatidylcholine)
IV infusions for pulling out and detoxing the mold
Co-pays and doctor fees that are not covered

These things all together cost her $8,000 a month. She has been using her savings, but it’s running out. She also has bills left over from her surgeries and hospital stays.

This is a long process, her doctor said you can’t go too fast, or it will make you a lot sicker and worsen the symptoms and have a decline in liver function. She also can’t take forever because she needs to get better and have the suffering and the mold poisoning stop from getting worse.

Her doctor thinks in 6 months 75-90% of her mold will be removed. He has seen many people recover from mold poisoning and he believes she can fully recover too, even though she has the worst mold poisoning he has ever seen. He still believes once the mold is out, her symptoms are reversible. Then little by little she can come off her medications and treatments and hopefully in a year or two even get her trach out.

She needs help to get through the next 6 months. These next 6 months are crucial for her progress. She needs to be able to pay for her treatments, medications and supplies so that she can continue forward with treatment and have a chance at getting better and getting her life back. The suffering she has endured is unimaginable. She wants a chance at a normal life again, and most importantly, she wants the suffering to end and to get better again.

Any help and donations are greatly appreciated, anything helps. Thank you.
