Help Make 78 Year Old Eugene’s Dream Come True.
Can you help with what will probably be his last big adventure?
Ever since passing the Azores Islands in the Atlantic many times in my younger seagoing days, I have always wanted to go back and visit one of the islands. At the age of 78 even though I am very fit, I realise that my time is getting short and I need to fulfill my dream soon.
I hope to go to one of the islands (Terceira) as soon as Covid restrictions are lifted. Hopefully they will be lifted by late August. I plan to walk the full 57 mile circuit of the island over 5 days with a couple of days to enjoy the local atmosphere. I will be saving hard between now and August and would hope to be able to cover the costs myself, but in the event of a shortfall, I may need your assistance with some of the following costs.
I have my flight to Porto and onward to Terceira paid for but would really appreciate some assistance with the following: flight home from Terceira to Dublin via Lisbon with TAP Air Portugal. I would hope to stay in local B&B’s each night. Cost for the 5 nights should come to around €300. Food for 7 days (Estimate €105: €15 per day). That brings the total needed to around € €800. All donations no matter how small will be really appreciated. I will donate any surplus to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.
P.S. I will once again be doing the hike as a fundraiser for Crumlin Hospital in memory of our late daughter Helen.
