On January 22nd, what was supposed to be a routine adenoid removal, turned into a parents worst nightmare. Just by the looks of her adenoids, the doctors knew something was not right.
After running multiple tests that week, they diagnosed Makayla with Stage II Burkitt Lymphoma. This type of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is one of the most rapidly growing cancers and has already spread within Makayla's little body.
The good news is this cancer is considered to be curable when treated in a timely manner. This means that Makayla will begin to undergo chemotherapy treatments just days after diagnosis. These treatments can potentially last months.
Makayla's insurance should cover most of the medical bills, but the treatments will be very time consuming. She will need to have her loved ones by her side every step of the way. We are hoping this GoFundMe page will ease any financial worry and help with bills and everyday expenses while spending their time in the hospital with Makayla.
