Help Maddy & Matt's upcoming liver transplants!

Hello Everyone!

My name is Matt Driscoll and I've started this GoFundMe page to help raise funds for my fiancée, Maddy and myself as we go into liver transplant surgery together on September 23rd! We're the owners of The Pizza Series in the Santa Cruz County and will be out of work for a couple months as we recover from our surgery.

My fiancée, life & business partner, Maddy has been sick for almost two years with a failing liver caused by a rare genetic disease (Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease). She has gone through ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI to check for brain aneurysms, liver biopsy, a bone marrow extraction, weekly blood draws for the last year and a half. She has taken on so much and I'm so proud of her for being so strong! Especially, the times she couldn't have any visitors due to covid restrictions in the hospital and ER.

Maddy was recently added to the liver transplant list at UCSF! With the news of her being listed, I've offered to become Maddy's live liver donor! Last week, I went through extensive testing at UCSF to see if I'm compatible to become her live donor. We've just received the great news that I've passed all my testing at UCSF and have been approved to become the live donor for Maddy!!!

Our surgery date is scheduled for September 23rd at UCSF with Dr. Ascher and Dr. Roberts. They're husband and wife and have an excellent survival/success rate!

The recovery time on a major transplant surgery like this will take some time and varies from each individual. I will need 4-6 weeks of recovery time being the live donor and Maddy's recovery will take a bit longer being the transplant recipient.

The last two years have been very hard and trying for us. We're also in the process of opening our very first pizza restaurant in Scotts Valley and will be delaying our opening till later this fall.

Words will never be enough to describe how thankful and relieved I am to hear the news that I've been accepted to be her live donor!!! I can't wait to help save my fiancée life and get her healthy & happy again!!!

I've set up this GoFundMe page to help us with some of our medical expenses, lost wages and post surgery doctor visits. Any donations small or big would be greatly loved & appreciated!!!!
