Last Sunday, my neighbor lost her entire home and all of her belongings in a devastating fire.
Lynese Harkless not only lost all of her material possessions but her homestead where's she's lived since childhood.
In addition to having to rebuild her entire life, buy new clothing, necessities and photography gear, Lynese is also facing the possibility of hefty fines from L&I. In Philadelphia, if you do not pay to demolish a fire damaged home once you receive a violation (issued 20 business days after the incident), the city can fine you up to $2k every day that demolition isn't completed. Demo for a home the size of Lynese's costs $8,000-$10,000 on average.
I am urgently trying to raise funds to go towards this cost so that Lynese is not also subject to predatory fines, having a lien put on her property, and more after already enduring a life altering tragedy.
No donation is too small. We deeply appreciate anything you can give.
In solidarity,
Dre
