Help Lyndsey Frank During Their Cancer Treatment

Hi everyone! Thank you for making your way to this page. We are once again turning to crowdfunded health insurance ('Merica!)--this time for our dearest friend and brightest light of our lives, Lyndsey Frank. Let’s get right into it:

 

On June 3, 2022 Lyndsey was diagnosed with stage 2 triple-positive breast cancer after finding a lump a month earlier. It's an aggressive form of cancer, but there are two major positives to focus on: First, Lyndsey caught this on the early side and moved quickly. Second, though these cancers tend to grow and spread rapidly, they are very responsive to medical treatment.

 

Lyndsey will be getting an MRI before treatment starts to create a baseline and determine how well future treatment works. The treatment starts with targeted chemotherapy. Lyndsey will be getting six rounds of chemo—one round every 3 weeks for about 5 months. The chemo is administered along with a combination of medications designed to treat the cancer, called TCHP. At the same time, Lyndsey will be taking a drug called Neulasta to help her immune system, because she'll be immunocompromised from the treatment.

 

The next phase of treatment will be determined by how well the chemo/medications worked. We are looking at two potential paths. Down one path is the "quick" road to recovery: Lyndsey would receive a lumpectomy to remove whatever is left of the cancerous tissue in her breast. She’ll also get a biopsy of the lymph nodes under the arm near her breast to be certain the cancer did not spread. She’ll also need another year of Herceptin and Projecta administered intravenously, along with 5 years of oral hormone treatment.

 

Down the other path (which could be necessary either because of a poor treatment response or the presence of a BRCA mutation) would be a mastectomy or possibly even a double mastectomy. The treatment would then be adjusted to something more robust.

 

Lyndsey means the world to so many people and has been a beloved fixture in the Los Angeles improv comedy world for over a decade. And now she desperately needs our help. Our goal with this fundraiser is to alleviate the burden of hefty medical bills, living expenses, and mental health expenses, so she can focus on what really matters—getting healthy and kicking cancer’s ass. Lyndsey’s oncologist really put it best: We’re going to cure this! We just need your help along the way!
