Help Lyme Warrior Betsy Covey!
Betsy Covey has Lyme disease and several coinfections. She was diagnosed in 2012, but has had health challenges since her childhood.
Some of the struggles that Betsy faces on a daily basis include nausea, vomiting, migraines, fever, chills, sweats, muscle/joint/bone pain, muscle twitching, fatigue, muscle weakness, air hunger, brain fog, loss of balance, fainting, light/sound sensitivity, chronic inflammation, insomnia and tachycardia. She has also recently had a pretty significant drop in weight and is now only 100 pounds at 5'6".
Lyme disease treatment is not covered by insurance. There is no copays, nothing. You are left to foot the bill on your own. Her IV treatment and supplies are 500$ every other week.
Her Lyme literate doctor visits are $600/hr. Her supplements range between $200-300 a month.
Even with what is covered, the "non Lyme" expenses, as of right now, her insurance changed on her and she has zero prescription coverage so she has gone without. Next month begins a $3700 deductible on prescriptions that are needed.
She now has a deductible to be met on office visits, and then has to pay 20% once the deductible is met.
Her debilitating symptoms have left her spending most of her days in bed, other then leaving the house to the doctors or the labs to get blood drawn. She still has a long way to go, even coming up on her fifth year of dealing with this nightmare and right now isn't able to even get her basic medical expenses paid.
