<div>Two years ago Lycia duked it out with breast cancer. Now it’s returned for round two. While Lycia is approaching this with her trademark optimism, it’s going to be a challenging time physically, emotionally and financially, so we’re asking for your assistance.

<div>Lycia has helped so many people without expectation of return. She’s dedicated years of her life volunteering as a coordinator and administrator of the Cajun Navy disaster response organization, funded and organized direct-action donations to Lower Ninth Ward neighbors after Hurricane Katrina through the Ninth Ward Rebirth Bike Tours, and recently co-founded the Faubourg House community space on Frenchmen Street. On top of a variety of other community-minded projects, Lycia has always exercised simple day-to-day kindnesses to those around her. One of her passions has long been headdress and costume creation, and for many years in the lead-up to Mardi Gras season she has invited others into her home workshop where she’s happily shared her tools, supplies, and wealth of skills.

<div>Lycia’s treatment this time around will involve a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and chemotherapy. Her first surgery is in late June. This entire treatment is likely to take at least a year – on her road to recovery Lycia is likely to find it challenging to consistently work.
