Help Luis With DACA Fees!

For the past 6 years, my husband Luis Albizo has been a DACA recipient. This has allowed him to pursue his dream career of working with youth at the Boys & Girls Club, an organization whose services opened many doors for him as a young man. DACA also made him the first person in his family to earn a salary, gave him the ability to travel without fear of being detained and deported, and recently sparked his interest to return to school to get his Bachelor's in Computer Science.
On Sept. 5, 2017, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) initiated the orderly phase out of the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Luis immediately submitted his DACA renewal request but was rejected on the basis of it being late. We challenged this decision with help from the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project but it didn't work. We've since decided to embark on the arduous journey of applying for his Permanent Resident Card, or Green Card, but this has proven to be a very special and complicated case.
On Jan. 13, 2018, we learned that due to a federal court order USCIS had resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA. This meant that Luis could reapply before his work permit expires on February 8, 2018.
Luis has 18 days before his work permit expires and it'll be 3-6 months before we hear back from USCIS about their decision. We are asking our community for financial support to help us cover any upcoming DACA-related fees, legal fees, and/or living expenses in the next few months.
Luis is an incredible partner, a remarkable hands-on father to our 9-month-old daughter, and an exceptional human being who never hesitates to help others. Please consider giving him some peace of mind that everything will be okay. That his family will be okay. And that we will survive and thrive under these dreadful circumstances.
