Help Lucie Get Rid of Her Gender Dysphoria and Asymmetry
Donation protected
Hi! Some of you know me as Lucie, and others as Ambroise. I'm a young trans woman raising funds to cover the cost of my surgery. It's a long-time planned project, and what better occasion than my 30th birthday to do it!
This fund will help me cover the cost of what is commonly called "Facial Feminization Surgery" and a Bimaxillary Osteotomy. The first surgery will work on my bone structure to transform traits from what is seen as "masculine" to what is seen as "feminine." The second surgery will address my asymmetry by rotating the jaw. After months of research and appointments, I decided that the surgery will be performed by Dr. Wim Verhaeghe, who has years of experience in both areas, on the 20th November.
My face has always been a source of difficulty. My asymmetry makes me deeply uncomfortable, and since I had a "masculine" puberty, my face makes people see me as a man, which is the last barrier between me and a feminine passing. However, all the surgeons I consulted were very positive about the potential results of surgery for me, as I already have very delicate features. Gender dysphoria is currently my main source of negative thoughts in my life, and alleviating it would give me a much brighter future.
In Belgium, this procedure is not covered by insurance. It is considered a cosmetic procedure, despite studies showing the significant positive impact it has on the mental health of transgender people. The quote I received for the surgery is 8,900 euros. On top of that, I will need to cover travel expenses and other small items necessary for my recovery. This fundraising is one of the steps I am taking to make this project a reality. I will be using all my savings and also organizing a fundraising party.
People around me will agree that I'm not the kind to ask for help. But today, I'm doing it. This is one of the most important steps in my life and will change many things for the better. It's extremely difficult to achieve alone, so every donation counts, even the smallest ones. Please keep your financial situation secure and don't donate if you are in a precarious situation. That wouldn't be fair.
Thanks again for all the shares, donations, and support. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk about it.
