Help Lucia rebuild her home

Hello everyone,

This is a fundraising for my girlfriend Lucia, whose house was destroyed during the tornado that hit the coast of Pantelleria island, on September 10, 2021.

Pantelleria is a small volcanic island between Sicily and Tunisia: the island and its inhabitants are used to very extreme weather conditions, strong winds aren’t stranger on this remote corner of Italy, but no one here has never experienced something this terrifying.

On Friday night, around 7pm, a strong wind started to blow on the island, the wind quickly become a storm and the moment it touched the cost had already become a tornado that devastated various houses, killed two people and injured several others.

Lucia’s house has been completely stripped off, the roof flew away, the doors have been ripped apart and the glass windows exploded. Most of the things in the house have been flushed away. Big acacia trees have been eradicated to the roots and fell down.

Luckily no one was home and the family dog, Nino, ran away just in time.

Last year, after Lucia’s mother, Daniela, passed away, we decided to come to Pantelleria and start renovating the house where Lucia grew up. We put a lot of sacrifice and work into it and to see all of this being destroyed is heartbreaking.

The funds we are trying to collect will be used to restore the house and the beautiful garden that once was there: the roof will be rebuilt and the walls will be strengthened, the doors and windows will be fixed or replaced (if needed), and the garden will be cleaned up from all the fallen trees and the rubble.
