Lorenzo, who was a kind-hearted person, who loved and supported his family emotionally and financially, unfortunately passed away today due to an accident. As the man of the house, Lorenzo worked hard every day to pay the bills and make sure his family had food on the table. Now that he has passed, the family is struggling in every way.

Lorenzo was the eldest child of a family of 7 who have not been able to mourn the loss of their big brother, son, and uncle the way we all should be able to. Not only have they lost Lorenzo, but they’ve lost the security he provided, which has put the family in a position of panic and uncertainty for their future. Living in Mexico, the wages aren’t as significant as the wages here in the US. With multiple children in the house, not everyone is able to work, let alone secure a job well enough to maintain their family's well-being and living expenses.

I went to school with Lorenzo and a few of his siblings. All of them were very humble, caring, and thankful for everything they had. As we grew to become adults, I went down to visit in Mexico and met him for lunch. I paid for our tacos, and Lorenzo was extremely grateful and would thank me in many words. I felt the genuine gratitude that he gave and realized he wasn’t as fortunate as myself to have the money and stability to just go out and grab something to eat. I gave him the rest of a $20 bill, and again, he thanked me over and over again. Lorenzo then explained to me that he would use that money to create more wealth for his family. Lorenzo and his family are truly amazing people. I can and will support them in every way possible, but I realize they will need more support than I am able to give.
