HELLO, FRIEND.
If you're seeing this, you likely know me or my music. I recently finished recording my debut full-length album with noisemaker-soundcatcher-extraordinaire Caleb Hickman in his beautiful, historic basement. It's called Doom Town, and it follows a loose cast of fluid characters, events, and images in Belva – a town doomed to be washed away by a primordial storm. It's about class struggle, climate change, displacement, violence, and family memory. These stories are held up by my acoustic fingerpicking and accompaniment from lapsteel guitar, organ, and piano (mostly played by–you guessed it–Caleb Hickman). David Brown, high wizard of strange sounds, just finished mixing the record, and now all that's left is the final stage of mastering. We're very proud of it and want you to hear it.
Making a record requires money. This has been a bare-bones, DIY-as fuck project and I've been lucky to have so much support from my friends Caleb and David, out of the goodness of their goddamn goodness-hearts. We're gonna send it out for mastering, and that's going to cost somewhere around $600.
The money collected in this fundraiser will go toward mastering costs for Doom Town. Any extra funds will go toward physical manufacturing costs for the record.
Anyone who donates will receive a hand-drawn thank you from me, and, of course, the pleasures that will come with hearing this record in its final form.
Many thanks for the support and see y'around,
lbc
