Brandon left behind a little girl, his only child, Ava. At the time of Brandon's murder, he was in the process of fighting for custody of Ava. Ava's mother, was heavily into hard drugs at the time and Ava was removed from her care.
After Brandon's death, I petitioned the court for grandparent's rights in the State of Florida where we reside. After several motions and hearings I was denied rights due to the fact that my son was deceased and because of that he had no rights and the mother had severed ties with the child so she had no rights therefore, rendering me basically a stranger to Ava, even though I had been present in her life since her birth.
I exhausted my savings with an attorney at that time. I would like to hire a family law attorney at this time. An attorney who specializes in custody law and preferably one who knows how crooked and broken the State of Florida foster care and DCF system is.
Ava would have had a good life with me and Brandon's sisters. She has a wonderful suppport system of aunts, uncles and cousings and we wanted nothing more than to love and honor our precious grand child.
At this time, we have no idea where Ava is. For a few years we were able to find her picture in a local elementary school year book but we haven't been able to the last 2 years. We would like to utilize any funds we receive for a private investigator as well as an attorney to help us at the very least, get grand parental visitation rights established.
It is very difficult to know that there is a piece of my deceased son running around on this earth and I have no idea where she is and have had all contact cut off from her.
I live in Bradenton Florida.
