My name is Denise Kennedy and I live in Babcock Ranch in Charlotte County. Four days ago I saw LJ and his dog Romeo crossing the parking lot at Walmart in Fort Myers, Florida where I had just finished shopping. For some reason, my heart told me to wait until he came out of the store. I was worried about his dog because it was very hot outside and Romeo is a black dog. As he walked toward my car, I approached him and asked him if his dog needed anything. He was very polite and said his dog was always his first priority, and then began to tell me his story. Romeo, the dog, caught my eye because I have worked in Dog Rescue for approximately seven years. LJ told me that he recently became homeless and was unable to find a job because he has nowhere to leave Romeo in order to go to work because he has nowhere to live. Romeo is his service dog. He told me that he had survived cancer and cannot lift more than 25 pounds which also makes it difficult for him to find a job, especially without an address. If he had a place to stay, he could leave Romeo there while he went and worked. Romeo is a very sweet and obedient dog. I was able to give LJ a few shirts, hygiene products, and a cart to help with his Things. I am reaching out to anyone who sees this to see if they can make any type of donation so I can help him find an efficiency for at least a couple of months to allow him to get a job and save money so he can start the road back to recovery.
