Help Liz and Keith's daughter Dani

Our very dear close friends, Liz and Keith Evans are dealing with an unthinkable predicament.    Liz and Keith's 9 year old daughter Dani has been diagnosed with a rare retinal disease which is quickly deteriorating her vision called Stargart's disease and is deteriorating the cones and retinas in both eyes. It's devastating as the family can't do anything as there currently are no treatments or visual corrections and is only a matter of time until she becomes legally blind. Today, she sees 20/100 and it is actively progressing much faster than anticipated.  Dani can no longer read off paper, she's reliant on magnification and screens, she can't make the distinction between the road and the sidewalk and looses her vision 10 feet in front of her.   I tell you all this as I want everyone to know that day-to-day challenges are real!   The scary part is the unknown, her future is uncertain as this disease has no cure and the inevitable could be near, complete vision loss.  You can imagine how terrifying this situation is for Dani, family and friends.

For now, Dani functions like any 9-yr old, full of energy, fun and curious.   Her parents have to renovate the entire house to meet her changing needs and desperately want to give her some experiences before her sight is severely impacted. As a huge Harry Potter fan and aspiring novelist, she desperately wants to visit Harry Potter World and to experience the butterfly migration in Central America.  This is where you come in, if you're able to contribute some money to help this cause I know Liz and Keith would be forever grateful.    It's a humbling experience as parents when you're faced with this type of situation, you pray a lot and rely heavily on love ones for support.

In this situation, there is no cure, just an unrelenting deterioration of her sight, something most of us take for granted.   Can we all band together and help this family!  Please know the money will go to much needed help with preparing the family household for Dani to function with her new vision limitations.   There is an immediate need to redo the electrical in the house for optimal lighting, more windows to introduce more light.     
Dani will benefit from different technology solutions to aid/assist with her vision.   I should mention, these improvements aren't covered by any provincial assistance and require trips to diagnostic centres for treatment, we need to help and ease their burden allowing the family to function as close to normal as possible.

You can only imagine the stress and burden on Liz as a mother.   She touched our own family when we were in a time of need caring for our children like her own.   She is a nurturer, a selfless mother and an individual whom uses her passion to help other people in the most meaningful, caring way.  She's a local Nelson B.C. teacher, helping to support our children and youth.
