Help Livi Beat Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Olivia A 10-year-old girl diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer is serving as an inspiration in the Brownsville area as residents near and far rally to the family's side to show their support and find ways to help defray costly and sudden expenses.

Olivia "Livi" Sealy of Hiller was diagnosed May 22 with Pilocytic Astrocytoma Grade 1, which is a slow-growing brain tumor. It has been determined inoperable and  the treatment can wreak its toll on a petite 4-foot 9-inch girl like Livi, who has just started her first round of chemotherapy. The chemo cycle is two weeks on, two weeks off for the next year, possibly longer.

"The prognosis is good, but the road for treating her cancer is going to be long and bumpy. The doctor says it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Area residents have formed "Team Livi," with Sealy family friend Davis Slagle at Bee Graphix in Fredericktown creating an online store to generate funds to help with the family's expenses, including costly medical treatments. He has created a logo for the fundraiser, which includes the sale of T-shirts, bracelets and protective face masks in Livi's favorite color, pink.
