Help baby Remi fight FIP

Remi is a tiny 6 month kitten who was left at a feeding station with bite marks all over her body. She had an abscess the size of a tennis ball on the right side of her abdomen. And her limb was bitten and not functioning well.

She was taken to the vet on emergency basis. Her abscess was drained and she was given different antibiotics but unfortunately the abscess kept filling up again. So she had to undergo surgery to have the capsule removed and stitched.

Everything was going well and she was about to be discharged when she crashed and her hematocrit dropped from 30 to 12. She was then in the ICU battling life threatening anemia. Her ultrasound showed abnormal changes in the spleen. After careful discussion the vet said there is a strong possibility of FIP because of all the trauma she had been through and decided to start her on GS 441524 treatment for 84 days. Remi greatly improved on GS injections and the diagnosis of dry FIP was confirmed.

By then Remi’s bill had already reached close to 5500 aed (£1200). Unfortunately after a whole month her abscess got reinfected and had to be drained again. The vet then decided to send her samples for a culture and sensitivity test to idexx, UK and it was shown that she had two different types of bacteria that need another round of a very specific antibiotic- gentamycin

This fundraiser is just to help with the cost of her GS medication that she needs for 84 days.
