Help Little Matteo in his Fight against Leukemia!

Donation protected
Please join us in supporting Matteo, Ariane and Dano as they embark on a two plus year journey through Childhood Leukemia.

Ariane, Dano and Matteo were in Vancouver visiting Matteo's other Grandparents when it was noticed that Matteo was not feeling well, he developed some unexplained bruising and was very pale.   A fever developed and he became very lethargic.  This all took place  within a short few days.  On Thursday Matteo would not walk so they immediately took him to a local ER and were then rushed to BC Children's Hospital where he was given blood, platelet transfusions and antibiotics.  Within a few hours it was confirmed that he had Leukemia.

On friday after blood work, bone marrow biopsy and spinal tap it was further confirmed that he has B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia CNS 2 High Risk.

On Sat Matteo had a port placed into his chest which will stay there for for all future chemotherapy treatments and blood work so that they can avoid poking him multiple times a day.  As soon as the port was in place Chemotherapy was started.

Matteo's life will be broken down into one month blocks for the next two years with each month consisting of different chemotherapy drugs,  blood tests, pain medication, antibiotics, anti nausea medications and he will be losing all of his hair.  The side effects of chemo are difficult to deal with and he will no longer have an immune system so he will be very vulnerable to infections.

Matteo will be completing his first month of treatment at BC Children's Hospital because he is too sick to be transported.  As soon as the first month is complete they will be returning to Alberta to do the remainder of his treatment at Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.   The good news is that no matter where you are in the world the treatment is identical.  They are in the best care no matter where they are.  Ariane and Dano will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House during this time - one of them will always be with Matteo and the other will get some rest and refreshment before trading off.

Clearly this rapid onset and whirlwind of a scary diagnosis, medical treatments and overwhelming situation has left Ariane and Dano in a complete state of shock.  As a young couple, both of them only 23 years old, just starting out in life it is a lot to deal with.

Ariane has had to give up her nanny job and her part time job at Flirt Cosmetic Studio.  Dano just recently finished his Degree at UofC and was supposed to be starting his summer lawn care job this week.  This has also had to be put on hold until they are able to return to Calgary.

Our goal is simple, we would love to raise enough money to help pay for their on going rent, gas and food expenses so that they do not have to worry about money on top of all the other stress they are under.  Once they are back Dano will be working his summer job but Ariane will not be working so that Matteo can always have his mommy with him.

Ariane and Dano live a very simple life, they share a car and live in a small basement suite in Calgary and get by on very little.  If we could all help them a bit it would make a huge difference in their lives and their ability to provide for their family at this time.

We will be updating this page regularly to keep everyone in the loop and share Matteo's journey.    If you cannot donate - we also gladly accept prayers, affirmations, manifestations and positive energy!

Sincerely,  Matteo's Mamo, Ciara
