Help little Helena fight cancer in Brazil

Donation protected
About a year ago, little Helena was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an adrenal gland cancer. Since then, a lot of struggle and frequent treatments have affected the family’s routine.

She underwent surgery to remove the tumor (2.7 in) but she also had bone metastasis.
She began chemotherapy at Pequeno Principe Hospital in Curitiba (Brazil), where she underwent eight cycles, ending in May. In June she had more imaging tests done. The report came clear and they were released to go home as if she was in remission. However, after presenting her case to an international study group, the doctors discussed the image report and they are considering the scars shown in the test as suspicious for metastasis. They decided to start a more aggressive protocol by the beginning of August. So now Helena is back in Curitiba with her mom.

Maikon and Luciane Ponath, Helena’s parents, need to pay for all the costs of the additional housing in Curitiba, besides all the treatment expenses. They live in Santa Catarina, a different state from where she is having her treatment.

Luciane is with Helena in Curitiba and can’t work under these circumstances. She is completely focused on Helena’s care and still breastfeeding. Dad and son (5 years old) can’t be with them because of work and school.

The costs are high because in addition to temporary housing, the family has to pay for medicines, food, rent, health insurance, gas.

If you can, please donate to this family so they can keep going with Helena’s treatment and care, it would be a huge blessing to this family! Any amount helps!
