Little Dude is my 14-year-old chihuahua and truly my best friend. I rescued him 8 years ago as a stray in Las Vegas, and ever since then he has been my constant companion through every high and low in life. For the past 8 years, we have carefully managed his heart murmur and kidney disease together, doing everything possible to keep him healthy, comfortable, and happy. Yesterday, his heart murmur suddenly progressed into congestive heart failure. I rushed him to the ER, where I was given the choice to either hospitalize him for emergency treatment or say goodbye and choose euthanasia. I couldn’t give up on him without trying everything possible to save him.
Right now, Little Dude is fighting to stabilize in intensive care. He has to remain in an oxygen tank while receiving continuous IV medications for the next 24–48 hours just to help him breathe and give his little body a chance to recover. Watching him struggle has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. He is the sweetest, most loving little dog, and anyone who has met him knows how special he is.
I’m doing everything I can to keep him comfortable and give him every possible chance to come home, but the cost of his emergency care is overwhelming. Each overnight stay is close to $5,000, and the expenses are quickly becoming more than I can manage alone.
If you are able to donate, share, or even keep Little Dude in your thoughts or prayers, it would mean more to me than I can express. Thank you for helping me fight for more time with my best friend.
