Help little Clover get life-saving surgery

Clover is our sweet 11-week-old beagle/blue heeler mix. We named him Clover because Louis and I met in Dublin Ireland. He is our Christmas present to each other this year.

We brought him home on December 1st and he was very sleepy but such a good dog. We thought maybe he was just catching up on sleep as he came from a busier home. But on the second week we noticed he couldn’t settle and rest and started wandering around the house aimlessly. We thought maybe he had a tummy ache from the de-wormer he had, but it just got worse. As the week went on, he wandered more, bumping into walls sometimes, and had a glazed look over his eyes. He stopped responding to us and acted like he couldn’t see us anymore. Sometimes he would become lucid and we could get our boy back for a little while, kisses and all. We decided we definitely had to take him to the vet at that point and they ran his bloodwork. They found his liver levels were higher than they had ever seen and so he likely had a liver disease. Basically, his liver is not working and when foods break down, especially proteins, they cause a toxic accumulation in his body, leading to neurological issues. If untreated the shunt will eventually lead to seizures, coma, and death.

To save Clover’s life, he needs surgery to repair a portosystemic shunt in his liver. The surgery is 95% successful, meaning he will go on to live a normal life and be loved like he deserves.

The funds are to help pay for the rest of Clover’s treatment, including imaging ($400+), hospitalizations ($4,000+), and most importantly, surgery ($8,000+). These are the estimates from the veterinarian at this point.

We need these funds as soon as possible as Clover is currently in the hospital awaiting treatment.

We know this year has been the hardest year for many people. My mother passed away in March.  She was my best friend and meant everything to me.  Our dog Isis passed away shortly before that with congestive heart failure. Clover is our little sunshine, sent to brighten our lives. Your help in saving his life means the world to us. He is a sweet boy who deserves a good life. We love him so much. Thank you for your compassion and kindness in helping our family.
