Help Lisa pay her husband's funeral expenses

Donation protected
Our friend, Joseph LaMonte Fisher, (pictured here with his son Christopher, or C.J.) a member at the Institute for Spiritual Development (ISD) in Oneonta,  and fellow explorer on the  Intuitive & spiritual path  passed away on March 20th, 2021,  as a result of a septic infection after undergoing treatment for a brain tumor.  Our hearts are with his wife, Lisa Fisher, and their sons Russell, C.J., and "honorary family member", Joseph, who is like a son to them.  They had high hopes of his going into remission and leading a normal life with his family, after years of illness with cancer, so this was a shocking loss.  His wife Lisa is left with ballooning medical bills from his hospitalization, and funeral expenses, which they are unable to pay, and could use our help to lighten the load, and lift the  sense of despair,  during  this time of mourning.  Lisa is also facing medical bills for her own hospitalization due to her health battles with kidney failure.  The cost to honor Joe's memory, with a memorial stone, a cemetary plot, cremation, a celebration of life gathering, and public notices will be about $10,000.  The hospital bills for Joe are coming in, and after insurance will be well over $30,000.
My name is Diana Friedell, and I am the Pastor and Co-Director of the Institute for Spiritual Development, where Lisa is a member. Lisa has given so much of her own  volunteer time, ingenuity and love to the "Mystic's Nook", the ISD bookstore, which generated a lot of funds to keep ISD going, that we wanted to do what we can to support her, in return,  through this very challenging time.
The funds from this collection will be withdrawn to a special account, from which Memorial expenses will be paid.  If there is any extra they will be used towards medical bills.

Joe "clowning around", keeping things light, even in the hospital!
Always the jokester and trickster, no one ever knew what to expect from Joe when it came to holiday gatherings. People would receive strange gifts such as "property on the moon", potatoes and butter, fake lottery tickets that were winners, cans of soup, etc. Once the shock of the unexpected was over, 10,000 ping pong balls would fall from the ceiling on to everyone! He definitely knew how to make special occasions memorable. Each year and each gathering was something different.
Along Joe’s life’s journey, he became spiritual and different types of spirituality interested him. He found a connection with Earth-centered religion that was nature-based,  and believed in the Great Divine.  With his intuitions becoming stronger he found a community of like minded people at the Institute for Spiritual Development in Oneonta, NY and made a connection with several of them. One of his strong connections there was with Reverend Sue Landon, who predeceased him.

Joe’s faith led him to became a non-denominational ordained minister. He was honored to have married and baptized numerous family and friends. Joe’s reply to those who asked him what church he was affiliated with, he would simply say, “The church of Joe Fisher.”

Joe was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer. He fought that cancer battle for many years, always staying one step ahead of it. “Attitude is everything”, he’d say. Earlier this year he had cranial surgery to remove a tumor from his skull. However, the Great Divine had other plans for him and a severe infection was his unexpected cause of death.
Joe was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge #466 in Oneonta, NY, and a member of Whitetails Unlimited.
Joe was also a very strong advocate for their youngest son Christopher J. “CJ” Fisher.

Joe, you brought the greatest gift of laughter to all you met and you shared your many, many hobbies with everyone willing to enjoy life. You will be missed and will be in the hearts of many.
