Help Lisa Fight Her Brain Tumor

Donation protected
Just weeks before Lisa’s 26th birthday, she received a devastating diagnosis. After months of pain, confusion and multiple visits to different doctors, she learned she had a rare brain tumor, a malignant atroblastoma. Despite the horrible news, she is extremely optimistic and happy, and ready to battle this unwanted, cancerous disease.

In a very short 8-week period, Lisa went from a normal and healthy hard working SLP, to a strong and hopeful woman fighting a serious brain tumor.

For close to two months, my sister Lisa suffered with intense headaches, pressure, and neck pain. Her primary care physician and ENT blamed a sinus infection and prescribed antibiotics, while the Chiropractor and Neurologist attributed her discomfort to a musculoskeletal issue. After treatment for both diagnoses yielded no relief, Lisa visited the dentist, who removed all four impacted wisdom teeth. Thinking she was on her way to finally feeling better, she was disheartened when her pain returned, along with new symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. However, these episodes came in waves. Just as she thought this terrible discomfort was passing, a new wave of symptoms, more intense than the last, would leave her feeling worse.

On December 18th, we called an ambulance when Lisa experienced the most severe episode to date. She stated that the room was spinning, and her pupils were very dilated. During evaluation in the emergency room, Lisa stopped speaking and began to seize. A prompt CT scan revealed a large mass in the right frontal lobe. Fortunately, the best neurosurgeon was on staff that day, and an OR was prepped. Lisa underwent life-saving brain surgery to remove the mass, an extremely rare tumor called an astroblastoma.

It was a Christmas miracle when Lisa was able to return home for the holidays. But the nightmare was far from over. The pathology report and follow up MRI revealed unexpected malignancy. Due to the rarity of this type of tumor, treatment protocols are scarce. Additionally, Lisa will be unable to drive or work for an indefinite amount of time.

Lisa is the sweetest, kind-hearted, and most positive person I know. She has dedicated her life to helping children communicate, as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Her clients, their families, and her colleagues adore her. She has brought nothing short of smiles, positivity, and friendship to her work environment. But now, Lisa needs our help. In addition to the prayers and well wishes, Lisa needs financial support so she can concentrate on the treatments and long months ahead.

As as you can see, this is a tragic situation. Your funds will directly support Lisa's treatment, alleviate the financial burden of Lisa being unable to work, and to assist with the ongoing medical costs that are yet to come.

Thank you so much for your support.
