<div><strong>Lisa has been in a long battle since May 2025.</strong>

<div>May 4th - very long non-stop seizure. Went to ER, coma 7 days, 4 days to recover. Came home on May 15th.

</div>

<div>May 18th, memory issues and ODs on seizure meds, goes back in ER for 4 days. Comes home late May 22nd.

</div>

<div>May 23rd, having a good day, memory improving, cooking dinner. Before we could eat, she comes to the living room looking for me, having a focal seizure, talking and following commands. Several minutes later, she starts failing to follow. Call and transport to Monroe ER. Stays there long enough to transport to Toledo. Arrives in Toledo early morning of May 24th. Stays in Toledo until June 3rd. Toledo did everything they could to stop the seizures showing on the EEG. By now, we're 14 days in a coma and continuous seizures (only stop in deep coma).

<div>June 3rd late night, early June 4th, she is transported to Cleveland Clinic, arrives early June 4th.

</div>

<div>They tried everything plus some that Toledo couldn't. Seizures still ongoing, only visible on EEG brainwaves.

</div>

<div>Bring her out of coma and spikes again, back to coma and out, spikes again.

</div>

<div>Running out of options.

</div>

<div>Window is closing, she can't live in a coma on Versed or we attempt brain surgery.

</div>

<div>Epilepsy asked about her history and seizures, told them. Had videos of some of her seizures and my descriptive details helped the neurosurgeon and neurology pinpoint the cause.

</div>

<div>One hot spot in her brain that was massive scar tissue and hardening (rubberized of the brain) was cut out. Surgeon said 90% chance to be seizure-free, walking, talking, etc., upon recovery.

</div>

<div>July 2nd was the surgery day. She woke up with 101 fever and high WBC count. No one wanted to perform the craniotomy. Dr. Bingaman stepped up and said, "I'll do it."

</div>

<div>4.5 hours, he said surgery was great! Same scar, same plate used for operation.

</div>

<div>47 days later, still no seizures.

</div>

<div>Some tremors, no worry at the moment.

</div>

<div>Versed is a hard drug to get off of.

</div>

<div>90 days ago, she was transported to the Specialty Hospital, where she is now (12 weeks in). Trach removed, most other lines removed. Needs 75% of food gone 3x a day, and must be able to walk before I can transport her somewhere.

</div>

<div>This is just a brief glimpse into what life has been like for Lisa and James.

</div>

<div>But the <strong>medical bills are growing</strong>, the need to just keep their home and pay for things like gas so James can be with Lisa when she is needing medical care, and add that to the growing cost of everything. James broke down about how hard it has been.
