New Storefront in Historic Rondo

Hello, my name is Tameka Jones, Founder and CEO of Lip Esteem. I am ready to take the next big leap in my entrepreneurial journey. After starting Lip Esteem during the onset of the pandemic, I am ready to scale my cosmetic business with a retail space of my own in the neighborhood that reared me. Committing to a three-year lease, I am in need of your help to build out the new retail space in 40 days. The new storefront is scheduled to open in March of 2022.

Funds would specifically help me get a start with the build-out, additional space and equipment for our new lash extension service, as well as new display cases. These services will be a great addition to the Rondo and surrounding communities because we will be employing community to work at Lip Esteem and helping each customer feel beautiful from the inside out- which is something we can all use right about now.

My Background:

After honing my skills for twenty years as a makeup artist, I took control of my destiny, launching Lip Esteem in July 2020— a complete line of plant-based lipstick to complement all skin tones. Starting out as a vendor at a local farmer’s market along Lake Street, I was amazed at the interest and support of the community, steadily growing her customer base and social media following. To mark the company’s one-year anniversary, Lip Esteem moved into a permanent office space in St. Paul, offering a larger space for retail sales, consultations, private parties and fulfillment of online orders.

The company is now poised to move into a true retail space as well as partner with additional salons, boutiques and cooperatives looking for a plant-based, gluten-free and cruelty-free product line.

I recently participated in a select group of entrepreneurs at Lunar Startups, with the goal of accelerating Lip Esteem’s availability into more salons and boutique in Minnesota. Lip Esteem was featured on the Emmy-nominated television Series, Small Business Revolution, streaming on Hulu, SBR.org and YouTube.
