Help Lindsay kick cancer’s a$$!

John Lennon's lyrics, "Life is What Happens While You Are Busy Making Other Plans" couldn't be more appropriate.

Imagine: Lindsay realizes her dream of earning  her nurse practitioner degree and secures a new position at Penn State Health. So excited for the opportunity ahead, she and Matt relocate this past summer from the Midwest with their two sweet girls, Maddy, 7, and Abby, now 4. Matt starts a new job too and the girls settle in to new schools with new friends and new routines.

Then, during an early October visit with her new doctor, Lindsay talks about a lump she had just found in her breast. Within the next 36 hours, at age 35, she is diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (stage 3) with multiple lumps in her breast.

Absolutely unbelievable.

How on earth could this happen to someone like Lindsay? Here is just one of many, many testimonials from a parent whose child was under Lindsay's care:

"I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for my [daughter] last weekend. If not for you being a voice for her, and comfort for us, I'm not sure how we would have made it. I have told everyone that asks about [daughter's] care, that a special nurse, provided [daughter's] care. The way you stood up for your patient is so admirable, especially when we were so intimidated. Thank you. You will always be remembered and the reason we believe nurses are super heroes."

Lindsay is one of the most resilient human beings I know. She's a wonderful person, mom, wife, and dear friend. She will stand up again, this time to cancer.  And she will give everything, absolutely everything, she has to beat this.

She and her family need your prayers, good vibes, thoughts and a little help.

While their new places of employment have been incredibly understanding and generous, neither Lindsay or Matt have enough time built up to take family medical leave and of course bills need to be paid and new costs associated with care and recovery are on the horizon.

So in this season of giving, please help in any way you can. Thanks!
