Linda's Voice Saving Surgery on May 28th

As a teacher and vocal performance artist, Linda Abar has been entertaining, teaching, and spreading joy in our mid-Michigan community for more than two decades.
In the fall of 2013, she began to feel a strange pressure in her neck. Then, Linda noticed an inability to sing the way she had only a year before. This led to several canceled performances. As her health concerns mounted, Linda had to wait to receive medical attention because of standing insurance policies.
In 2014, Linda saw an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist and was relieved to find that her vocal chords are in great shape. However, the underlying problem, chronic muscle tension, was making it difficult for her to use her voice in any way.
Finally, Linda received MRI and biopsy treatments during which doctors found a benign tumor in her neck. Leaving the tumor in place presents serious health concerns.
As Linda and her family continue to work with the medical community to find an effective solution, preventative surgery to remove the growing tumor has been selected as the best course of action. The benefits of this healing strategy are two fold; by acting swiftly the danger of this tumor becoming cancerous is greatly reduced. And Linda can continue to serve the community as a teacher and vocal performance artist. Now more than ever, we her friends and family are stepping forward to support Linda in her hour of need.

Additionally we as a community invite you to join us in showing your support at a Concert Benefit being held on Linda's behalf on April the 26th.
