<div>Writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Life changed in an instant for our family, and sharing this story still feels surreal.
</div>
<div>On February 15th, my beloved little sister Linda—only 31 years old—was rushed to the emergency room with severe chest pain, shortness of breath and numbness in her left arm. Just days later, our world was turned upside down: she was diagnosed with Stage III Diffuse Large B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a fast-growing and aggressive form of cancer.

<div>No one is ever prepared for news like this.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Linda is more than my sister—she’s a bright, unstoppable force of nature. Since emigrating from Venezuela to the U.S. in 2012, she’s poured her heart into everything she does. A professional dancer and actress, Linda is the kind of person who gives 110%—on stage, in her friendships, and in life. Her joy is infectious. Her smile can lift anyone’s spirits. And once she enters your life, she never truly leaves.

<div>After being admitted to the hospital test revealed a 10cm tumor in the center of her chest that was causing intense pain and putting her at serious risk. She underwent three emergency procedures:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>•	A biopsy to determine whether the tumor was malignant.
</div>
<div>•	A DVT/ Thrombectomy to remove life-threatening blood clots near her heart caused by the tumor.
</div>
<div>•	The implantation of a port for chemotherapy: for aggressive drugs that are too strong for a regular IV.
</div>

<div>She started chemotherapy just one day after her diagnosis, while in the hospital. Linda is now in her fourth round of 6 cycles of chemo, and while her body is responding well to the treatment, the toll it’s taken on her physically and emotionally and mentally is immense and has been very hard to witness.
</div>
<div>She’s still very positive and has been able to keep her spirits up despite challenges she’s faced.
</div>

<div>Due to the aggressiveness of her treatment, Linda must be hospitalized every three weeks for 5–6 days to receive chemotherapy under close monitoring. As you can imagine, this comes with significant costs.
</div>

</div>
<div>Linda hasn’t been able to work since February. As many of you know, health insurances in the US can be complicated, unreliable and extremely expensive. While she’s managed to get the care she needs, it hasn’t been easy. She has endured loosing her oncologist in the middle of treatment, her insurance dropping all the providers (Doctors) she was seeing simply because they didn’t want to cover the costs.

<div>She’s finally been able to secure a better insurance but the cost is sadly something hard to afford. Bills are mounting and costs are overwhelming.

<div>That’s why we are humbly asking for your help – whether though a donation, sharing this campaign or sending a prayer.

<div>-	The initial two-week hospital bill including 3 surgeries and specialized care

<div>-	The scans, tests, and procedures required to monitor her progress

<div>-	Finding her reliable transportation (Linda’s car was totaled while parked just one week before being diagnosed with cancer)

<div>Escribir estas palabras es uno de los retos más difíciles que he tenido que enfrentar. La vida de nuestra familia cambió por completo en un instante, y compartir esta historia sigue sintiéndose casi irreal.

<div>El 15 de febrero, mi querida hermana Linda, de tan solo 31 años, fue llevada de urgencia al hospital debido a un dolor intenso en el pecho, dificultad para respirar y adormecimiento en su brazo izquierdo. Pocos días después, nos dio un diagnóstico que nos dejó sin palabras: Linfoma No-Hodgkin, etapa III, un cancer agresivo y de rápido crecimiento.

<div>Nadie está preparado para recibir una noticia tan devastadora.
</div>

<div>Linda es mucho más que mi hermana; es una verdadera fuerza de la naturaleza. Desde que emigró de Venezuela a los Estados Unidos en 2012, ha puesto su corazón en todo lo que hace. Como bailarina y actriz profesional, Linda siempre da el 110% en todo: en el escenario, con sus amigos, y en la vida. Su energía es contagiosa, su sonrisa ilumina cualquier habitación, y una vez que entra en tu vida, es imposible que se vaya.

<div>Tras ser ingresada en el hospital, las pruebas revelaron un tumor de 10 cm en el centro de su pecho, que no solo le causaba un dolor insoportable, sino que también ponía en grave riesgo su vida. Durante este tiempo, ha tenido que someterse a tres procedimientos de emergencia:

<div>•	Una biopsia para determinar si el tumor era maligno.
</div>
<div>•	Una trombectomía/DVT para eliminar los coágulos de sangre cerca de su corazón, causados por el tumor.
</div>
<div>•	La implantación de un puerto para la quimioterapia, dado que los medicamentos agresivos requieren un acceso intravenoso especializado.

<div>El día después de su diagnóstico, comenzó su tratamiento de quimioterapia mientras todavía permanecía hospitalizada. Ahora, Linda está en su cuarta ronda de seis ciclos de quimioterapia. Aunque su cuerpo está respondiendo bien al tratamiento, los efectos físicos, emocionales y mentales han sido devastadores y, como hermana, es difícil ver a la persona tan fuerte que conozco atravesar semejante lucha.

<div>A pesar de todo, Linda mantiene una actitud positiva y ha logrado, con esfuerzo, mantener la esperanza a pesar de las dificultades.
</div>
<div>Dado lo agresivo de su tratamiento, Linda debe ser hospitalizada cada tres semanas durante 5 a 6 días para recibir quimioterapia bajo monitoreo constante. Esto conlleva un costo significativo.

<div>Desde febrero, Linda no ha podido trabajar. Como muchos de ustedes sabrán, el sistema de seguros de salud en EE. UU. es complicado, impredecible y extremadamente costoso. Aunque ha recibido atención médica, ha enfrentado obstáculos enormes, como la pérdida de su oncólogo en medio del tratamiento y la eliminación de todos los proveedores por parte de su seguro, que se negó a cubrir los costos. Finalmente, ha logrado encontrar un seguro mejor, pero el costo sigue siendo abrumador. Las facturas se acumulan, y los gastos se vuelven cada vez más difíciles de afrontar.
